Visiting the Concours d’Elegance car show in Greenwich, Connecticut, is a real feast for the eyes. This year I attended the second day of the vintage auto show devoted to European makes such as Rolls Royce, Ferrari, Bugatti, Bentley as well as lesser known producers like Morgan, Facel Vega, Horch, etc. From the slippery contours of a Lamborghini Miura to the quirkiness of the Amphicar, no one can convince me that these vehicles were not works of art worthy of museum status. The hood ornaments alone display superb sculptural qualities while also serving as ‘mascots’ for a car company’s character; defining speed, endurance or sophistication. Some, like this leaping Jaguar, appear fast even when the car is standing still.
